16+ Learning Choices
16+ Learning Choices is a guaranteed offer of a place in post-16 learning for every eligible young person who wants it. It is an integral part of the Curriculum for Excellence and is central to facilitating delivery of the national indicator for positive and sustained post-16 destinations.
More Choices, More Chances (MCMC)
16+ Learning Choices is aimed at delivering an offer of post 16 learning to every young person, with a particular attention to young people in need of More Choices and More Chances (MCMC). The MCMC cohort is those who have been identified as being vulnerable leavers, and the most likely to fail to sustain a positive full-time destination post-school.
The Bridges Project offers alternative-learning intervention for young people aged 15 - 19years. This helps them return to education, training and or employment.
Young Scot Card
The Young Scot National Entitlement Card is available free of charge to everyone aged 11-25 living in Scotland. Use it for money off the things you love, exclusive rewards, proof of age and much more.
Educational Maintenance Allowance (EMA)
The Educational Maintenance Allowance is available to eligible young people staying on in school to undertake further education.
When pupils are in secondary four, they are expected to undertake one week of work experience as part of their education. This is a great opportunity for pupils to experience the ‘world of work’ and have a taster of a particular career choice.
The Shetland College offers a variety of courses that enables young people to gain qualifications such as intermediates, highers, national certificates, SVQ’s, HNC’s, HND’s, BA’s, BA (Hons) etc.

With You For You is a way in which adults access support within the community.
