Scottish Government Housing Initiatives

Besides the LIFT scheme, there are another couple of government initiatives to help with housing:

Self Build Loan Scheme

The Scottish Government have provided a time limited fund to assist self or custom builders finance the construction period for their new home.

This scheme will reopen in Autumn 2022 and is open to applications from individuals who have been unable to obtain mainstream self-build mortgage finance, but who will be able to repay the loan upon completion of their project. The maximum loan available stands at £175,000.

Croft House Grant scheme

Rural and Islands Housing Fund

This scheme aims to increase the permanent long term availability of affordable housing.  It is open to incorporated companies such as private landowners and developers, letting companies, local authorities and registered social landlords.  Further information is available at www.gov.scot/publications/rural-and-islands-housing-fund-guidance-note-mhdgn-2021-02/pages/project-eligibility/.
