information for hjaltland HOUSING ASSOCIATION tenants
Adaptations and other forms of housing support
Hjaltland Housing Association installs adaptations (such as showers, ramps for wheelchairs etc) into an average of two or three properties a year. The Association are happy to advise tenants looking for support services to help them live comfortably and independently in their own homes.
Transfers and mutual exchanges
Hjaltland will assist you if you wish to transfer from one of the Association's properties to another, and will give priority to transfers that result in better use of their housing stock (for example where a household would transfer to a property that is of the right size for the household).
Mutual exchanges between a Hjaltland and Council tenant - whether within Shetland or elsewhere in the U.K. - are normally approved as long as conditions are met. These conditions include the exchange would not result in overcrowding, there is a good rent payment record and the other landlord has given their consent.
If you are interested in a transfer or a mutual exchange you can contact staff at Hjaltland Housing Association (no form filling is required).
