HJALTLAND HOUSING ASSOCATION - CHOICE BASED LETTINGs
Hjaltland Housing Association use 'Choice Based Lettings' to allocate its houses. This is a system (pioneered in Holland and widely used by English Associations) where the applicant puts their name forward for an advertised property they are interested in. All Hjaltland properties are advertised in the Shetland Times and on their website which is updated weekly. Anyone who has registered with Hjaltland Housing Association can apply for any property.
The pointing policy and procedure determines which applicant is allocated the property.

The Housing Application Pack and Hjaltland Housing Association’s Lettings Policy Leaflet is available here.
Hjaltland Housing Association's allocation system gives priority to applicants by placing them in one of 7 groups. Applicants are prioritised by the group they score most points in and the numbers of points scored (applicants can also qualify for points in more than one group).
Allocations according to group needs in each lettings area
Hjaltland operate a weighting system where a proportion of houses are allocated in each letting area according to the seriousness of one category of housing need compared to another.
