Join in our Bookbug session for babies and toddlers for songs, rhymes and fun.

Bookbug sessions take place every Tuesday 10.30 am - 11.00 am and 2.00 pm - 2.30 pm in the Shetland Library.  Booking is no longer required.

Bookbug sessions also take place in the mezzanine area of the cafe at Mareel every Thursday morning 10.30 am - 11.00 am.  Booking is not required for these sessions. (during school term time).

Bookbug sessions can be booked for under-fives groups.  Please email chloe.tallack@shetland.gov.uk to find out more.

Bookbug is the government's book gifting programme for the under fives.  Shetland Library, in partnership with NHS Shetland, provides four stages of packs to encourage a love of books and reading.

Bookbug - Scottish Book Trust

  • Packs 1 and 2 can be collected from your Health Visitor at 7 week and 18 month checks, or from the Library.

  • Pack 3 is gifted to children in their early years setting for every 3 year old.

  • Pack 4 is gifted to every primary one pupil each November
