Malachy Tallack talks on Islands of the Imagination
Shetland writer Malachy Tallack is to talk at an event at Shetland Library on Tuesday 27th March
The author, editor, singer and songwriter has had great success in recent years with his books Sixty Degrees North, which was a BBC Radio 4 Book of the Week, and The Un-Discovered Islands, which won an Edward Sanford Travel Writing award. Malachy will be talking on the subject of mythical and phantom islands, explored in the second book.
He will also introduce his forthcoming first novel The Valley at the Centre of the World, about love and grief, family and inheritance, rapid change and an age-old way of life, to be published on 3rd May.
Karen Fraser, manager of Shetland Library said – ‘Un-Discovered Islands was our most-borrowed non-fiction book last year and many people in Shetland have been impressed with Malachy’s writing success. We are looking forward to his new novel and are sure readers will be keen to hear about it before it’s published.’
Malachy commented "I'm delighted to get the chance to speak at the library this month, and to give an early preview of my novel here in Shetland, where the book is set."
The evening talk starts at 7pm on Tuesday 27th March at Shetland Library, Lower Hillhead, Lerwick
