Next stage of project to Re-Create Scalloway
Drop-in sessions are taking place later this week at the Scalloway Public Hall for anyone who wants to hear more about and contribute to the vision for the future of Scalloway.
The ‘Re-Create Scalloway’ project is being led by Shetland Islands Council and Scalloway Community Council, and is aimed at bringing together local people and design professionals to see how the environment and community can be supported and improved.
A questionnaire has been completed by over 120 people; public engagement sessions, including ones aimed specifically at young people, took place in May, and the comments received so far are on a range of topics including public spaces, waterfront development opportunities, housing, parking and road safety. Proposals and suggestions made by the public are also open for comments on the project’s website here: http://www.scallowayplaceplan.com/Workshops/
The consultants commissioned to run the project, G. L. Hearn and Iglu Studio, have drafted up options which will be available to view at the drop-in sessions, along with a more general update on the process.
The public drop in sessions are on Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th June, 5-7 p.m., with a presentation on findings so far from 7-9 p.m.
