where can I recycle?
Gremista Waste Management Facility
- Monday - Friday 8.00 am - 6.00 pm (last entry at 5.45 pm)
- Saturday and Sunday 10:00 am - 4.00 pm (last entry at 3.45 pm)
You can take the following recycling directly to the Gremista Waste Management Facility in Lerwick:
Mixed glass bottles and jars, food tins and drink cans, plastic bottles, cooking oil, tv's and monitors, fridges and freezers, small appliances, fluorescent tubes, mixed textiles and clothes, shoes, batteries, used engine oil, car batteries, used engine oil, car batteries, scrap metal, large appliances, low energy bulbs.
We have lots of recycling banks throughout Shetland:
- Central, East Mainland and Whalsay
- Lerwick and Bressay
- North Isles
- North Mainland
- Outer Isles
- Scalloway, Burra and Trondra
- South Mainland
- West Mainland
The clothes and shoe banks are provided and emptied by the Salvation Army.
