Volunteering can be magical!
Giving up your time to help others is one of the most rewarding things you can do in life. Although you don't get paid the experience is priceless. It's also been shown that volunteers are among the healthiest and happiest people in society.
Volunteers are at the heart of all Active Schools programmes in Shetland.. Last year nealry 200 people who give up their time to help across a range of sports and activities. They include parents, teachers, coaches, students and senior pupils. Together they provide over 2000 activity sessions
If you would like to help young people get the most out of sport and physical activity there are dozens of ways to get involved. We have opportunities to suit everyone whatever your interests, availability or experience. There are a number of roles available from coaching and administration to supervision and more.
All Shetland Active Schools volunteers are given guidance and support including:
- Access to training, including UKCC and NGB qualifications
- 1 to 1 support from an Active Schools Co-ordinators
- lots of high fives and thanks yous from children and parents!
