What we do
What does Bridges offer?
Service provision includes:
- Alternative learning intervention aimed at helping young people aged 15 - 19 years to return to education, training and or employment
- Developing social and interpersonal skills
- Assessment of young people’s needs
Bridges Programme
Taking part in the Bridges programme will enable participants to explore and develop a variety of social skills. The young people will be encouraged to develop skills and strategies that will help them become more effective in working with others. The young people will be given the opportunity to reflect on their behaviours and interactions with others. The lessons learnt will then be used in planning the next challenge.
Using a range activities and settings we will work closely with the young person to support them in identifying their learning and social needs. An individual plan will be designed with the young person and other agencies, where appropriate to meet the needs of the young person.
This plan will have clear time scales; it will have clear outcomes, which will be measurable. These plans will be designed in a solution-focussed way, which will enable practitioners working with the young person to evaluate progress as well as enable the young person to recognise change.

Timescale
Students can be referred to Bridges through Careers Scotland. Students will then be offered an interview with the Bridges Coordinator. If they are then successful in becoming a Bridges student they will be offered a number of different learning opportunities.
Students are supported to find employment, education or training while they are at Bridges. Students are made to feel more confident and capable individuals while they are at Bridges. We aim to work with students for a year and then they should be moving onto a job, college, further training or a skill seeker position.
