We will campaign to ensure that regulations and arrangements allow Shetland-generated green energy to be made available to Shetland consumers and industries at affordable prices to close the current energy affordability gap.
As has been noted elsewhere in this report, essential strategic planning has been done to help to develop the Council’s position on this, with the Shetland Energy Development Principles and Energising Shetland – Affordable Energy and a Shetland Tariff Strategic Outline Programme being agreed. In what is a complex area of policy, work is continuing and we are engaging with industry, regulators and both Governments to make progress on this action.
