Next Steps
Before deciding whether to introduce a visitor levy scheme, Shetland Islands Council will engage with stakeholders to develop an understanding of related issues and concerns, and to carefully assess the potential costs and benefits, and impacts on the visitor economy. This will also help to inform any future action the Council takes with regard to the discretionary powers provided by the legislation.
There will be opportunities over the coming months for residents, tourism businesses and organisations and anyone else who could be affected by a visitor levy to have their say.
