Robin Calder is the preferred candidate for the post of Head Teacher at Anderson High School.
After recent interviews, and subject to pre-employment checks being met, Robin will take up the post in August 2023 when current Head Teacher Valerie Nicolson retires.
Since 2018, Robin has been employed as Executive Manager for the Council’s Quality Improvement team, based at Hayfield House. Robin originally started work for Shetland Islands Council in 2001 as a History Teacher at AHS before progressing up to Pupil Support Teacher, and then Head Teacher at Whalsay School in 2011. He has been part of the Quality Improvement team since 2014.

He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge from his time in the school, as a Head Teacher of Whalsay School and his current role as the Executive Manager - Quality Improvement into this post.”
