All Schools Closed tomorrow – Thursday 21st December 

All schools closed  - due to wind

Due to the forecast of high winds for tomorrow, Thursday 21st December, all schools and ELC settings in Shetland will be CLOSED. 

The Met Office has issued a Yellow Warning of Wind for tomorrow for the northern half of the UK.  Storm force winds are forecast across the North of Scotland from early morning, with winds gusting up to 80mph for a time across Shetland.  

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) Distribution have also announced that they are bringing in additional teams to deal with any damage to the power network as a result of the forecast high winds.  

Disruption on inter-island ferries and public service buses is expected tomorrow.  Anyone intending to travel should check the ferries service status on www.shetland.gov.uk/ferrystatus or call the appropriate voicebanks.

The Eric Gray @ Seafield Centre and the Additional Support base at Montfield will also be closed tomorrow.
