Transport Arrangements for all S3 & S4 Skills for Work Courses

Dates for courses can be found on the Shetland UHI website - Schools - Skills for Work (uhi.ac.uk)

MORNING

All pupils (except Whalsay and Rural Skills) are to travel to school as normal in the morning before accessing the below Skills for Work transport.

The bus will take max. 14 pupils from Sandwick JHS and drop to Sandveien, Viking (for Mareel), Lerwick Campus & Scalloway Campus.

Aith Junior High School

The bus will take max. 19 pupils from Aith JHS and drop to Viking (for Mareel), Sandveien, Lerwick Campus & Scalloway Campus. 

 

Wastbus

Brae High School

The bus will take max. 17 pupils from Brae HS and drop to Sandveien, Viking (for Mareel), Lerwick Campus & Scalloway Campus (Alternatively vehicle for max. 15 pupils to Viking (for Mareel) and Lerwick Campus, Sandveien and separate vehicle for max. 6 pupils to Scalloway Campus if split the same as last year).  Operator to split run, one vehicle per setting due to timings.

 

Johnsons

Baltasound Junior High School and Mid Yell Junior High School

The bus will take max. 11 pupils (4 Unst & 8 Yell) from Unst & Yell and drop to Viking (for Mareel, Lerwick Campus & Scalloway Campus.

Anderson High School

The bus will take max. 44 pupils from AHS and drop at Lerwick Campus.

 

Robertsons

Anderson High School

The bus will take max. 44 pupils from AHS, drop max. 11 at Viking (for Mareel), collect max. 8 Whalsay School pupils at Viking from Service 19 and drop them, along with remaining AHS pupils, to Scalloway Campus.

 

Andrews

Whalsay School

Service 19 to minimum 27-seat capacity on Fridays to cover increased demand. Whalsay pupils take 07:50 ferry from Symbister and access Service 19 to Lerwick and onwards connections as set out in the table above. 

 

Service 19

Pupils attending Rural Skills in Whalsay will receive individualised communication.

Anderson High School

The bus will take max. 21 pupils (Aith, Baltasound, Brae, Mid Yell & Whalsay) from Lerwick Campus to Viking. Then take max. 11 pupils from Viking (Mareel) and drop at AHS.

The bus will take max. 52 pupils from Scalloway Campus and drop max. 19 at Viking and max. 33 at AHS.

Anderson High School Pupils: Access normal school transport from Anderson High School.

Sandwick Junior High School Pupils: Access normal school transport from Sandwick Junior High School pupils.

Aith Junior High School Pupils: Take 15:40 Service 12 from Viking Bus Station, onward buses from Bixter.

Brae High School Pupils (NOT from Vidlin or Mossbank): Take 14:10 Service 21 from Viking Bus Station.

Mossbank, Yell & Unst Pupils: Take 14:35 (14:10 if Yell or Bluemull ferries are on single vessel) Service 24V. Mossbank pupils get off at end of the Mossbank road, Isles pupils remain on bus.

Whalsay Pupils: Will be collected at 13:00 from course venues in order to get the 14:00 ferry. The transport operator is Johnsons and the departure time is 13:00 prompt due to onward school run commitments for the operator. The 13:00 pickups are from Mareel and the Scalloway Campus. The Mareel bus will collect Gremista Campus pupils on the way North.

Vidlin Pupils: Take the 17:05 Service 19 from the Viking Bus Station.
