The Home Link Service is part of the Education Outreach Services and we work to promote inclusion and improve outcomes for children and young people across Shetland.
We work with primary and secondary children and young people, their families and other agencies offering tailored support to interrupted learners with access to education and opportunities to meet their wellbeing needs. We work in close collaboration with school staff and other services.
We can provide:
- one-to-one or small group learning and teaching support
- support to families and schools, to understand barriers and offer advice on strategies on attendance and/or engagement
We also provide support, guidance and advice on:
- health and wellbeing needs and positive relationships
- re-engagement with learning and school life
- consultation around learning and attendance
Requests for involvement can be made through schools and other agencies (following parent and/or child/young person consent) or parents/carers.
The Home Link Service also liaises with families who choose to home educate their children in accordance with statutory guidance, to help ensure suitable and efficient education provision. Please see the Home Education section for further guidance.
