To avoid fires keep your chimney clean. This should be carried out at least every six months for coal and more regularly for peat when in use.
You as a tenant are responsible for ensuring that your chimney is regularly swept.
When burning peat we suggest that you burn coal once every month to clean the inside of your fire, this will help to reduce condensation in the chimney.
You should clean the throat plate to your fire at least every month.
For any heaters or heating systems that use solid fuel, you should check the operating instructions for which types of fuel are suitable.
