We remain committed to driving forward the work of The Promise in line with the national implementation plan. In September 2023, Children’s Social Work commenced a one-year project, with support from national charity, Children 1st, to embed family group decision making within local processes. Family group decision making is intended to bring a child’s wider family network together to agree a family plan to support the child, before a lifechanging decision is made about their future. The aim is to enable families to have greater choice and control when statutory services become involved in their lives. The project is funded by ‘Keep the Promise’, secured through the Corra Foundation.
The Promise funding has been used to establish a Lifelong Link Worker post that works with care experienced young people to connect with their families and gain a better understanding of their backgrounds.
