We will demonstrate support for the Scottish Government's Fair Work Statement to meet the longer-term ambition for Scotland to become a Fair Work Nation.
The Council became a ‘Fair Work’ employer and, from 1 April 2021, all staff have been paid at or above the Scottish local Government Living Wage. The latest Fair Work First Statement was published in June 2023 and includes commitments regarding:
• having channels for employee voice
• investment in workforce development
• not using zero hours contracts inappropriately
• action to tackle the gender pay gap
• desire to create a more diverse and inclusive workplace
• payment of the Real Living Wage
• offering staff flexible and family friendly working practices from day 1 of their employment and
• opposition to the use of fire and rehire practice.
