The factors that improve the health of a community are very similar to those that improve the health of an individual
As an employer and anchor organisation, we will promote the Five Ways to Wellbeing and work with the Shetland Partnership to make it easy for individuals across the community to find the opportunities to embed the Five Ways into their lifestyles.
The Five Ways to Wellbeing have been regularly referenced in the staff wellbeing elements of the Chief Executive’s staff message. Mental health as a priority is reflected in both the NHS Shetland Clinical and Care Strategy and Shetland’s Health and Social Care Partnership's remobilisation plan. This report describes the work undertaken to produce an evidence base for the development of a ‘Good Mental Health for All’ Strategy for Shetland. GMHFA_EvidenceBaseRecommendReport-Dec23.pdf (healthyshetland.com) Nine main themes were identified and explored: leisure, behaviours, self-care, work and education, support, external factors, relationships, experiences and personal issues. These closely mirror the Five Ways to Wellbeing evidence base. The next stage of this work is for the Health and Social Care Partnership to use this evidence to develop an outcomes-based Good Mental Health for All Strategy.
