Care

Throughout your stay at Edward Thomason House and Taing House we will encourage you to maintain your independence and existing skills and encourage you to maintain and enhance your contacts with the wider community.

You will be cared for to a high standard taking into account your individual needs and wishes. These will be reflected in a personal support plan that puts you, as the resident, at the centre of care, giving you choice, respecting your privacy and maintaining your legal rights. This plan will be reviewed with you every 6 months.

Your needs will be met by a trained social care team who are supported by a wider Multi-Disciplinary Team of Health Professionals whom are involved as required.

You will be designated a Senior and Key Worker who will be main points of contact and will help in the ongoing co-ordination of your care.

Pets

We may be able to accommodate pets but this will be dependent upon those already cared for in the home and also any associated risks. You should explore this with management if this is something you wish to consider.

Smoking

A no smoking policy is in place within the building but we do have some identified smoking areas outside the building which we will support you to access.

Medication

We will encourage you to self-medicate if this suits you best; but if required we will administer for you. All medication requires to be locked up securely for safety.

Health & Safety/Risk assessments

We try to keep rules to a minimum, however we do need to observe some health and safety rules for the benefit of all.

The room you are allocated on admission will be the room you remain in unless your manual handling needs change in such away you may need a larger space. We do not move residents on the basis of views from the bedroom.

On admission we will complete relevant risk assessments with your input and that of relevant Power of Attorney’s (POA) etc.
