About Montfield Support Services and its location
We are located in the centre of Lerwick close, to Islesburgh Community Centre and Gilbertson Park.
Montfield care home was fully renovated in 2010. Prior to this it had been used by the NHS as a rehab hospital facility.
Visitors
There are no set visiting times, family and friends are welcome at all times. Families are encouraged to participate and play an active role in supporting customers with their care needs, attending appointments and participating in activities as part of their routine.
Number of Beds
Montfield has 15 Bedrooms.
Facilities
- We have 15 ensuite bedrooms available, 2 of these can be used as doubles if we have a couple who wish to share facilities.
- We have a communal dining room and sitting room for residents to use day to day. These rooms could also be used for a private family gathering with prior arrangement with the manager.
- We have a small courtyard garden with raised planters, clients are welcome to use this area as weather permits and also join in with gardening activities if they wish to.
- There is a small kitchen area which residents and their visitors can use to make hot drinks and snacks. Laundry services can be provided if required.
Activities
We have some regular activities such as a reminiscence group, visiting spiritual team providing worship, theme nights, bingo and karaoke nights. Residents often go out for walks to the flower park during warmer weather. Your key worker will work with you to identify your interests and create a wellbeing plan detailing how you like to spend your days. Staff can help you to access third sector activities such as lunch clubs, or sport activity.
Meal times and Nutrition
Main meals are provided to us from the Lerwick Kitchen team at E.T. & Taing. Menus are provided weekly to enable residents to choose what they would like. Family are also welcome to bring food and drinks if you have specific requirements or likes/dislikes.
Pets
- Visiting pets – this should be discussed with a senior member of staff to ensure other residents and visitors safety and animal welfare.
- Pets staying with us would need to be discussed and agreed on an individual case by case basis.
Smoking
We are a no smoking building. We ask residents to smoke outside and away from the entryway if possible.
Care and Medication
Our trained staff team will support you with your needs as required but will promote and encourage independence as much as possible.
At the point of admission senior staff will assess your needs and create a support plan, this includes managing medication. If you are able to manage this yourself then staff will encourage and enable you to continue this task. If you need support then medication will be stored in a locked cupboard in your room for safety and staff will help you through the day as required.
Costs
You can find out the charges on our 'Paying for Care' pages
Charges are based on a full financial assessment carried out by an approved officer. Charges for residence and day care are subject to annual review by Shetland Islands Council and are in line with national regulations set by the Scottish Government.
