North Haven Care Centre, Brae
About North Haven and its location
North Haven Care Centre is situated in the village of Brae, on mainland Shetland, and overlooks Busta Voe and Brae area. The residential service is located on the top floor with a day care service on the ground floor. The outside garden area is landscaped and has a seating area, sensory garden and an area where people can plant vegetables or flowers.
North Haven is in close proximity to local shops and facilities, Brae Co-op, Brae garage/shop, Brae Hall, Brae Health Centre and North Mainland leisure centre are within 5 minutes walking distance, and if any shopping is required staff can assist with this.

Visitors are welcome at any time.

Meal times and Nutrition
Meal Times are:
- Main Meals are 12:30 and 16:30
- Breakfast, snacks and Supper – as per the individual’s choice as to the time they would like this.
Please let staff know if you have any dietary requirements.
Activities
There are various activities. Day Care together with residents attend exercise classes, Gardening, Crafts, Baking and Cooking, Pen pals program. North Haven supports intergenerational days with the schools and nursery Library Van delivers books. There are also organised drives in the car and visits to local halls for teas seasonal visits from other groups.
North Haven takes part every year in ‘Come to Brae’ days when the Care centre is open to the public, an organised Fun Day. Every year North Haven prepares its own float – and in 2023 North Haven won first place for their float!
North Haven are part of book bug when School children visit every month. Once a month we meet up in one of the local halls with other residential care homes, where we have music, dancing, games, yarns, visiting groups and still find time to have lunch!
Day Care at North Haven
Day Care is on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 11:00 to 15:00.
Pets
Pets are welcome to come, and they can visit residents in rooms. However dogs must be on a lead at all times when in the public areas.
Smoking
There is a No Smoking policy in all buildings.
Medication
Medication is supported by our trained staff as required.

Charges are based on a full financial assessment carried out by an approved officer. Charges for residence and day care are subject to annual review by Shetland Islands Council and are in line with national regulations set by the Scottish Government.
