Overtonlea Care Centre, Levenwick

Overtonlea Care Centre offers residential care, day support and Support at Home services including Meals on Wheels for the South Mainland area.


About Overtonlea Care Centre and its location

Overtonlea was purpose built and registered in 1995. It is located in Levenwick with scenic views over the beach and cliffs as well as having a volunteer maintained garden.

Visitors

We encourage friends and family to come as often as they like, and they will receive a warm welcome in the Centre at any time. Residents can have visitors at any time of the day, and visitors are welcome to join residents for meals and events.

Number of Beds

Overtonlea has 15 Bedrooms.

Facilities

  • Each bedroom has en-suite bathroom, and is equipped with a hoist, a wardrobe, chest of drawers, a comfortable chair and a TV.
  • WiFi is available throughout for all residents.
  • There is a large main sitting room with a dining end and small kitchen area for residents and families to use.
  • There is also a smaller sitting room overlooking the beach, called the Wheelhouse.
  • Outside, there is a central decked courtyard area and raised plant beds on the same level as the bedrooms.
  • On the lower level near day support, there is a walled garden area with benches and sensory plants.

Activities

Residents at Overtonlea can enjoy activities such as:

  • Baking
  • Crafts e.g. decorations for the sitting room, Easter bonnet competition, making keychains
  • Planting e.g. tallest sunflower competition, planting seeds to grow potted plants
  • Events with local musicians, dancers and school children
  • Bingo and quizzes

Pets

At Overtonlea, well behaved pets are welcome to visit residents. Residents are unfortunately not able to have their own pets live at Overtonlea.

Smoking

Smoking is allowed outside the building and on the Wheelhouse lounge balcony, but not in resident’s bedrooms or the sitting rooms.   

Medication

Medication for residents is usually administered by staff and kept in locked cupboards.

Day support, Support at Home and Meals on Wheels

  • There is day support at Overtonlea on Monday – Thursday.
  • Support at Home services including Meals on Wheels for the South Mainland area are also run from Overtonlea.

Charges are based on a full financial assessment carried out by an approved officer.  Charges for residence and day care are subject to annual review by Shetland Islands Council and are in line with national regulations set by the Scottish Government.
